Phil is now going through the internship portion of med school at the University of Sherbrooke. This involves mostly 1 month placements in different hospitals while he practices different medical subjects. He had just finished up a month at the hospital in Riviere du Loup and was then moving on to a one month dermatology internship in Maria, Gaspésie. We jumped in the car after work on Friday and drove down to Riviere du Loup. Saturday morning we drove to Maria with Phil and spent Saturday afternoon and Sunday visiting. We headed back home on Monday morning. The Gaspé peninsula and the Baie des Chaleurs are a very different place in the winter! Some great landscapes and interesting little villages.

Beautiful photos! I drove down that way about 20 years ago but it was during the summer. Seeing this really brings back memories for me. Seeing the area in winter, especially the Rocher Perce is really nice. It gives everything a really different look and feel.
Cheers!

It’s really interesting seeing the area in the winter. I had driven that route years ago while coming back from hiking Mount Washington by way of Maine and New Brunswick but again it was in the summer.
Thanks for stopping by!

Some stunning photos! We just finished cycling through Quebec. We cycled from Quebec City up to Riviere du Loup, but then decided to cut inland towards New Brunswick. The weather is already starting to get cold, and we had a few frosty nights. I can’t image how cold it must get in winter. It looks beautiful, but too cold for cycling. As you mentioned winter and summer must bring out completely different aspects of these places.
The changes with the seasons are interesting to see. Cycling is a bit tough in the winter here but there are still people that do try it. Mountain bikes with knobby tires are a must!
